Location: Thorne Doncaster

Salary: From £42,120 depending on experience

Split shifts: 6am—3PM and 3pm—12am Monday to Friday

Total Recruit are delighted to be recruiting for a key position on behalf of a fantastic client based in Thorne, Doncaster.

As a Shift Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining site operations — delivering repairs, corrective work, and planned preventative maintenance as a key member of the engineering team.

· Manage your own workload and ensure all tasks meet required standards.

· Complete work arising from audits, work requests, and PPM follow-ups.

· Apply Health & Safety and Food Safety standards to all activities.

· Support team members to achieve targets and KPIs.

· Oversee on-site contractors, ensuring safe practices and clean work areas.

· Ensure all machinery and equipment meet site standards, escalating issues where necessary.

· Manage spare parts inventory to maintain effective stock levels.

· Maintain high housekeeping standards within all engineering areas.

· Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding engineering activities and breakdowns.

· At least 5 years’ experience in a similar engineering role.

· 2+ years’ hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical work — or equivalent training/education (including third- or fourth year apprentices).

· Background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the ability to think on your feet and get the job done.

· Completed a 4-year approved technical training program with a minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification) in mechanical or electrical repair and maintenance.

· Must have the right to work in the UK and be 18 years or older (mandatory).

· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset.

· Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction effectively.

· Team player who works well with others to achieve shared goals.

· Confident in challenging and supporting colleagues in a professional, constructive way.

· Experience in a food manufacturing environment is an advantage, but not essential.

· Awareness of environmental responsibilities and compliance requirements.
