Apprentice Engineering, Workshop & Stores Assistant

Salary: £16,640 per year
Full-time: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

We’re recruiting an Apprentice Engineering, Workshop & Stores Assistant to join our client’s friendly and supportive team in Redhill. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience across both the workshop and stores functions, developing valuable mechanical assembly, warehouse, and stock control skills while working towards your future career.
No two days are the same—you’ll be involved in everything from assembling equipment and preparing components to managing stock and ensuring the workshop runs smoothly.
What you’ll be doing
As part of the team, you’ll learn how to:
- Assist with the assembly and testing of equipment.
- Prepare components by drilling, cutting, wiring, and assembling panel systems.
- Safely use hand and power tools under supervision.
- Pick, check, pack, and dispatch customer orders accurately.
- Receive and process incoming deliveries.
- Maintain accurate workshop and stock records using computer systems.
- Keep the workshop and warehouse clean, organised, and safe.
- Follow Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHS&E) procedures at all times.
- Support general warehouse and workshop activities as required.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude who enjoys practical work and is keen to learn.
You’ll ideally have:
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Basic IT skills and confidence using a computer to enter data accurately.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- A willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
- The ability to safely lift and move equipment as part of the role.
- A reliable, hardworking approach and a genuine interest in developing a career within engineering, manufacturing, or logistics.
- Some experience, or qualification in Engineering would be advantageous
