Engineering Assistant

Location:  Elland, West Yorkshire

Pay Rate:   £16.00 per hour (working Monday to Friday)

Total Recruit are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineering Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join our clients team, who are an engineering, design and manufacturing support specialist working  in both the workshop and on-site, this is a hands-on role where you will help deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Duties will include:

• Help deliver projects on time, meeting quality, safety, and customer expectations.
• Work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Maximise productivity while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
• Organise materials and components efficiently for ongoing projects.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and apply hygienic fabrication standards.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure all work meets required specifications and report any issues.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE to ensure a safe working environment.

Skills Required:

• A degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, or relevant vocational qualifications (e.g., apprenticeship).
• Health and safety qualification (desirable)
• Solid experience in stainless-steel fabrication, pipework, and pressure testing within a hygienic environment.
• Confident using hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and carry out detailed quality inspections.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and hygienic practices (food industry experience)
• High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work and a proactive problem solver.
